The latest addition to GE's Waukesha fuel testing product line-up is FIT® a fuel ignition test unit for Derived Cetane Number of Diesel Fuels. FIT measures the ignition delay of a diesel fuel under prescribed conditions and uses a simple equation to convert the measured ignition delay into a Derived Cetane Number (DCN) as outlined in the ASTM® Method D-7170-08. The FIT unit is a refinery laboratory quality control tool and ignition research instrument that is compact, easy to use and operates with short cycle times for high throughput.
• Uses advanced constant volume combustion chamber (CVCC) technology with sensors to collect data during ignition and combustion phase. Simulates combustion process conditions of an actual diesel engine
• Software controls process to determine the Derived Cetane Number with a high degree of accuracy and repeatability and no evidence of memory effect
• Simple calibration on readily-available reference materials
• Compact, portable desktop unit
• Low maintenance costs
• Ideal combustion technology research tool for oil refinery and independent testing labs, and engine manufacturers
