APG1000 Combined Heat and Power (CHP)
The new CHP configuration for the 1 MW APG1000 is expected to achieve up to 89.4% total (thermal + electrical) efficiency. In combined heat and power applications, the heat generated by the engine is captured and used for various purposes, such as supplying heat for a building or an industrial process. CHP applications can effectively double the amount of usable energy created by the engine, thereby greatly improving total system efficiency.
